Donald Trump blasts mind-boggling Bill Belichick Hall of Fame snub

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a large majority of Americans who agree with one another on the same subject in 2026, but the Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub seems to be doing just that – and even the ever-divisive President of the United States is weighing in on the matter.

Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to share his thoughts on Belichick after he was snubbed from the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Belichick, a 29-year NFL head-coaching veteran with six Super Bowl rings, was considered a first-ballot selection by most fans. Still, we learned on Tuesday that he did not receive enough votes to be inducted in his first year of eligibility.

Trump is considered a rather controversial figure these days, but his opinion on the matter seemed to be right in line with most of the NFL fanbase as he blasted the decision on social media. He also took shots in the same post at what he describes as the ‘sissy’ kickoff rule, referring to the new Dynamic Kickoff Rule implemented by the league ahead of the 2024 season.

“It is the same mindset that gave pro football the new and unwatchable ‘Sissy’ Kickoff Rule, that made it possible for Bill Belichick to not be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” Trump wrote Wednesday. “Both are ridiculous and should be overturned!”

It is not Trump’s first time criticizing moves regarding the NFL and its personnel, calling the new kickoff rule ‘ridiculous’ in 2025. Recently, Trump announced he wouldn’t attend Super Bowl LX in San Francisco because it is «too far away,» while blasting the scheduled musical performances by Bad Bunny and Green Day.

“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump said.
