«The main thing is that everyone gets to the match well and safely. I also hope the performance is worth it for our fans who make the effort to come to the stadium,» he said

Bayern fans were certainly entertained when Bayern beat Hoffenheim 5-1 in the Bundesliga on Sunday where they also have two big wins over Leipzig this term, 6-0 at home and 5-1 away.

Kompany won’t underestimate twice Cup winners Leipzig but insisted: «We’ve always shown what we’re capable of against Leipzig. It’s a home game, a must-win game. We want to deliver what we’re capable of.»

Bayern are record Cup winners with 20 titles but last lifted the trophy in 2020 as part of a treble along with the Bundesliga and Champions League trophies.

Kompany said he doesn’t want to categorise the various events, with Bayern also top of the Bundesliga and in the Champions League last 16.

«Today it feels like the most important competition, on Thursday the Bundesliga will be the most important again, and then eventually it’ll be the Champions League again,» he said.

«My job isn’t to create a ranking. We want to show who Bayern Munich are. We are where we want to be now and we want to still have that feeling on Thursday.»
