As Richardson Hitchins gets set to defend his 140 lb IBF world title this weekend against Oscar Duarte, he talks to Fight Hub TV about how he’s feeling heading into camp, his thoughts on the upcoming fight, and more. Check out some of what he had to say below.
Hitchins on training camp
“Everything’s been going great. You know, happy to be back in the ring after nine months out of the ring. I feel like I’ve been out of the ring for a little minute now since the Kambosos fight. So, camp been going great. I been getting better and better in the sport and I can’t wait to go out there Saturday, compete against a fighter like Oscar Duarte — very strong, aggressive — and I get to display boxing, my sweet science. It’s going to be a great night of boxing.”
On what he expects Duarte to bring to the fight
“I’m expecting for him to bring it…and just him coming out there, trying to fight. He’s going to hustle. But I’m ready for that…I don’t think he’s a style that I haven’t seen. I think he’s strong, relies on like brute force and aggressiveness and, yeah, I think I got his style pretty much figured out. Once I get comfortable I think I’ll start taking control.”
On who he thinks wins Mario Barrios vs Ryan Garcia
“I don’t know. Ryan is a real safety first type fighter. Well, not all the time but Ryan is real cautious. And Barrios, he has a lot of holes in his defense, so I really don’t know. Ryan is the more physically gifted one but I really don’t know.”
