Boys basketball roundup: P-W wins CMAC outright, Everett wins third straight

WESTPHALIA — Logan Farmer finished with a team-high 21 points to help guide the Pirates secure the outright CMAC title with a home win over Laingsburg. Grady Eklund scored 16 points and Trevor Spitzley chipped in seven points for Pewamo-Westphalia (18-2, 17-0). Josiah Hawes tallied 10 points and Leandro Dolega-Caceres tacked on nine points for the Wolfpack (10-11, 10-7).

EVERETT 66, EASTERN 54

Preston Williams led all scorers with 22 points as the Vikings secured a nonleague win over Eastern. Marrion May scored 18 points and DJ Brown tacked on 12 points for Everett (7-14) as it won its third straight. Ian Curtis and Raul Romero each scored a team-best 19 points for the Quakers (8-12).

HOLT 57, HASLETT 55

HOLT — Mikah Williams had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Brandon Mercer finished with 23 points for the Rams in their nonleague win over Haslett. Trevon Johnson added 12 points for Holt.

WAVERLY 82, MASON 62

MASON — Derek Thomas II had a team-best 23 points to help Waverly pick up a nonleague win over Mason. KJ Fast finished with 19 points and Xavier Pendergrass added 10 points for Waverly (16-5). Luke Goss led all scorers with 25 points and Layken Johnson chipped in 16 points for the Bulldogs (12-10). JV score: Waverly d. Mason

WEBBERVILLE 79, FOWLERVILLE 74

WEBBERVILLE — Daxten Feguer led the Spartans with 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Webberville tallied the home win over Fowlerville (5-16). Dylan Rhodes notched 18 points, eight assists and four steals and Dominic Driver picked up a double-double 18 points and 13 rebounds for Webberville (17-3). JV score: Fowlerville 57, Webberville 40

PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 67, IONIA 55

PORTLAND — Charlie Thelen scored a team-best 22 points as the Shamrocks picked up a home win over Ionia. Tyler Thelen added on 20 points for Portland St. Patrick (15-5). Ethan Wenzel led all scorers with 23 points and Colt Piercefield finished with 18 points for the Bulldogs (9-12).

DeWITT 40, MT. PLEASANT 36

DeWITT — Landon Kurncz and Brendan Mensing each led the Panthers with 11 points as DeWitt outlasted Mt. Pleasant (15-6) for the nonleague win. Rome Dunham notched nine rebounds, six steals and three blocks for DeWitt (9-12).

ALMA 66, SAGINAW SWAN VALLEY 60 (OT)

Koby Shunk made 11-of-12 free throws while scoring 24 points and added six rebounds and five steals as the Panthers prevailed over Swan Valley in overtime. Treyshon Oglesby had nine points and seven rebounds and Jackson Hemker had eight points, seven steals and four assists for Alma (12-9).

STOCKBRIDGE 68, READING 40

STOCKBRIDGE — Bradley Buddenborg led the Spartans with 22 points and dished out seven assists as Stockbridge finished with a Big 8 home win over Reading (1-20, 0-13). Jonathan Crowe scored 14 points and Tucker Lott added on eight points for Stockbridge (15-6, 9-4). JV score: Stockbridge 52, Reading 33
