Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has left the team and their spring training preparation, departing for Team Japan and the World Baseball Classic.
Ohtani, the star man for Japan, will be hitting, not pitching, for his home country in the tournament as the Dodgers look for him to pitch a full season healthy.

He has likely begrudgingly accepted the team’s decision, especially given his goal of winning a Cy Young Award.
However, even though he won’t be at his magical best with the two-way duties, Ohtani will still be the center of attention.

According to a Japanese reporter, there will be additional security measures to accompany the media attention on Ohtani, which will follow Team Japan during their preparation and exhibition games.
“What is noteworthy about the Nagoya event is the strict security measures being taken by the hosting side,” a story on Shoutaimuzu read.
“Based on past experiences, there are plans to strengthen security more than usual, and safety preparations are underway.

“Furthermore, in terms of broadcasting, it has been reported that a system like a ‘dedicated camera’ will be set up to specifically follow Otani’s movements, which shows that the level of attention is directly linked to the operational design.
“The greater the enthusiasm, the more important it is for the venue to have a guide that allows people to feel safe and get excited.

Ohtani is one of the biggest stars in Japan, and the fanfare is especially for an international affair. While there may be logistical hurdles, he will take a good amount of pride in it.
