Chargers anticipate RB Harris to begin against Chiefs

SAO PAULO — Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris, who was sidelined for the entire training camp due to an eye injury from a fireworks incident, is predicted to start in the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday, coach Jim Harbaugh mentioned on Wednesday.

Harris was noted as having fully engaged in practice.

«He asserts he’s prepared, and he appears ready to go,» Harbaugh stated. «It’s challenging to forecast play counts. He’ll be playing football and giving it his all. That’s the attitude.»

Harris was seen on the field with his teammates Wednesday during a brief on-field workout session shortly after the team reached São Paulo. Surrounded by hundreds of reporters, Harris once again donned a helmet with a tinted visor, which he has consistently worn during public practices this summer.

Harris mentioned on Monday that he is unconcerned about what people speculate regarding his choice to wear shades to conceal what he refers to as a «superficial» injury. He has taken part in only six practices with the Chargers.

«I’m escalating towards it, just aiming to regain that football condition,» Harris expressed on Monday. «But I do feel good, and we will see where it goes from here.»
