Floyd Schofield will not be fighting on November 8.
The young lightweight contender suffered a Grade 2 sprain to his right wrist, with Golden Boy Promotions saying there was also minor ligament damage, and that Schofield was advised to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Joseph Diaz Jr, which was to feature on the Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Erickson Lubin undercard in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 23-year-old Schofield (19-0, 13 KO) was coming off of a first round wipeout win over veteran Tevin Farmer on June 28, which was probably his best and most impressive performance to date.
Golden Boy did not give an estimate on Schofield being able to return to the ring.
The show will go on, with the DAZN-streamed event still featuring Ortiz (23-0, 21 KO) taking on Lubin (27-2, 19 KO) in the super welterweight main event, with a lot of buzz behind the idea that if Ortiz wins, he will face Jaron “Boots” Ennis early next year.
