“It’s the biggest betrayal in boxing I’ve ever seen,” Frampton said of Benn. “I’ve never seen anything like it. I would say (Benn) failed a couple of drug tests, Eddie backed him to hell — to the point where Eddie put his reputation on the line defending a guy who’s failed tests. They got him a couple fights in The States, they got him the marquee fight with Eubank, they’ve earned him an absolute fortune, they loaned him money when he needed it as well for court cases and everything else.
“The thing that got me the most was when Eddie found out about this, he says we should talk, we should have a chat, and they refused a phone call. That, to me, wasn’t nice. And I would say there’s people in the background advising him but Conor’s his own man. I don’t what the dad or Tony Sims and all this are saying, but I imagine they probably don’t like this.
“But he’s old enough to make his own decisions but for me it’s a huge betrayal and I think it’s the first time in my life I’ve felt sorry for Eddie Hearn.”
