The Boston Celtics beat their age-old rival Los Angeles Lakers at TD Garden 126-105 at TD Garden this past Friday (Dec. 5) evening. The wind was taken out of the matchup a bit with Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Marcus Smart out for the Lakers and Jayson Tatum out for the Celtics, but it was still a competitive contest until well into the second half.
But Boston never really felt like it was in a position to lose, and secured the wire-to-wire win — their second this week — with intense defensive pressure from the entire team, but especially the Celtics’ young wings Jordan Walsh (17 points, 4 rebounds), Hugo Gonzalez (4 points, 2 rebounds), and Josh Minott (6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists). But the MVP-level play from star forward Jaylen Brown (30 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists) and solid games from Payton Pritchard (15 points, 6 assists) and Derrick White (19 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists) was the engine of the win.
