CAF Champions League / JS Kabylie – Al Ahly: who holds the historical advantage
CAF Champions League / JS Kabylie – Al Ahly: history of their encounters
The rivalry between JS Kabylie and Al Ahly stands as one of the most memorable in African football. These two giants have clashed seven (7) times in continental competitions, with the Canaries holding a slight edge: three (3) wins, two (2) draws, and two (2) losses, scoring 11 goals to the Egyptians’ 9.

Most of these encounters have taken place in the Champions League, but the most unique chapter dates back to 1981, when both quarter-final legs were awarded to JSK by forfeit (3-0 in the first leg, 3-0 in the return), in an exceptional political context following the death of Anwar el-Sadat.
More recently, Al Ahly made a statement in the first leg of the 2025-2026 group stage, cruising to a 4-1 victory in Cairo. This Saturday in Tizi Ouzou, JSK will have the chance to restore balance in a showdown steeped in history.
