Matchroom Boxing will continue to be a featured core of DAZN’s boxing business for the foreseeable future as the company has just announced that they’ve reached a five-year deal extension with the streaming platform which is said to demonstrate DAZN’s ongoing commitment to delivering the best boxing content in the world as they look to continue ‘raising the bar’ (and probably their subscription price 😉).
“DAZN will continue to deliver a non-stop calendar of premium events supported by year-round original content to take fans inside the stories, camps and rivalries. Together, DAZN and Matchroom Boxing will continue to drive boxing’s evolution and deliver a premium experience to fans around the world,” they mentioned in a press release.
Matchroom, being one of the world’s biggest boxing promotional companies, has the roster to largely float DAZN’s boxing business on its own, so there should be plenty of fight cards to supply to the network, even if all of them won’t deliver on the value many subscribers would hope for. DAZN has recently introduced a new ‘Ultimate’ subscription service that includes a guaranteed number of PPV events each year, although the quality of those designated PPV fights are completely up to their discretion.
