With opposing supporters and some analysts suggesting that Hearts’ momentum had been diminishing after a few lost points, the triumph against reigning champions Celtic might prompt a reevaluation of their stance.

Hearts’ momentum is undeniably buoyant following the 2–1 win, and if anyone assumed they were on the verge of losing their first-place standing, they ought to reconsider.

Although much attention has been directed towards Hearts’ new signings this season – with players like Claudio Braga and Alexandros Kyziridis garnering significant focus – the standout performer is now well into his fifth season at Tynecastle.

Cammy Devlin was largely unknown when he arrived at the club in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has made over 120 appearances for Hearts and has participated in all 21 matches this season.

The 27-year-old is currently enjoying the finest form of his career and undeniably deserved the man of the match accolade in the win at Parkhead. It’s hardly surprising that Derek McInnes is eager to secure the midfielder with a new deal to ensure he remains at Tynecastle past next summer.

On Sunday, Devlin dominated the duels, winning the highest number (12) of any player at Celtic Park, and alongside Tomas Magnusson, he led the Hearts team in possession won (eight).

With four international caps, an in-form Devlin is a strong candidate for the Socceroos squad for next year’s World Cup.

The stakes are high for Hearts this week – win at Falkirk on Saturday night and extend their lead to six points at the top.

However, the Bairns, expertly managed by former Jambo John McGlynn, have adapted seamlessly into their first top-flight season in 15 years and will present a significant challenge.
