Dan Rafael reports that Erika Cruz, slated to rematch Amanda Serrano on January 3rd, has been pulled from the fight after turning in an “atypical VADA test result for clenbuterol.” Rafael emphasizes that the result is an “adverse finding” rather than an outright failure, “meaning it needs more analysis,” but Serrano will instead face undefeated San Antonian Reina Tellez.
The 22-year-old Tellez (13-0-1, 5 KO), who coincidentally idolizes another Mexican “Dinamita” in Juan Manuel Marquez, fought seven times in 2024 alone. Her competition predictably leaves a lot to be desired, but she seems to have a solid pedigree and I don’t imagine there are many women eager to trade leather with Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KO) on two weeks’ notice.
The show will also see Stephanie Han battle Holly Holm and Yankiel Rivera take on Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez in a clash of two of Puerto Rico’s best.
