The San Francisco 49ers have a major question mark on offense going into their Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears.

That question marks comes in the form of superstar tight end George Kittle, who did not practice on Wednesday after exiting Week 16 early with an ankle injury.
On Thursday, the Niners did not practice, but the estimated injury report had Kittle listed as a non-participant, which means the Niners didn’t believe he would have practiced if they did take the field.
This is obviously a bad sign for Kittle’s chances of playing this week, but we also know that Kittle is capable of playing without practicing.
On Wednesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Kittle «has a chance» to play in Week 17.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Kittle is dealing with a mid-to-low ankle sprain. While not great news, Kittle avoided a high-ankle sprain which is typically a multi-week injury.
«I don’t think it’s a high ankle sprain,» Kittle said after the Week 16 contest. «We’ll take it one day at a time and we’ll go from there.»
If there’s anyone who can overcome this ankle injury, it’s Kittle.
We’ll get our next update on Kittle on Friday, when the 49ers release their final injury report. It looks like the veteran is heading for a questionable tag, at best.
