Giants' Andrew Thomas exits Vikings game with hamstring injury, will undergo imaging Monday

The Giants’ most valued offensive lineman is dealing with a new injury, as star left tackle Andrew Thomas suffered a hamstring issue early in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaking after the game, Thomas said that he’s feeling «sore» and will undergo further evaluation on Monday.

«We haven’t done the image yet, so we’ll see tomorrow what the diagnosis is,» Thomas said.

Thomas’ leg appeared to tighten up on a 2nd-and-10 run play inside the red zone, with 11:58 remaining in the second. After spending a few moments down on the turf and walking gingerly off the field with trainers, Marcus Mbow took over in Thomas’ place.

While initially listed as questionable to return, the Giants ruled out Thomas early in the third quarter, trailing 13-10.

«I talked to the training staff at half time, and we decided it was the best thing to stay out,» he explained after the game.

There was no reason for the Giants — already eliminated from playoff contention — to push Thomas back into action. The six-year veteran spent the past offseason working back from a foot injury that required season-ending surgery in October 2024.

Thomas also suffered a hamstring injury in 2023, causing him to miss seven games, but he explained that this was the other leg, and that he doesn’t feel the same pain he did last time.

«I think it’s different,» Thomas said, «but like I said we haven’t done the MRI yet, so once we see that, we’ll go from there.»
