Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young will miss the second game of back-to-back action and will not participate in Friday’s match against San Antonio due to right knee injury management.
Young returned and participated on Thursday in a 133-126 defeat to the Charlotte Hornets after being sidelined for 22 games due to a sprained right MCL. Young contributed eight points and 10 assists in 20 minutes against Charlotte.
He had been absent since Oct. 29, following an injury sustained during a win at Brooklyn.
The Hawks are also missing Kristaps Porzingis, who is unavailable due to illness. On Dec. 14, the team announced that Porzingis would be sidelined for two weeks for additional evaluations while coping with his illness.
Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a disorder affecting the autonomic nervous system, last season while with the Boston Celtics. Over the summer, Porzingis and his medical team identified strategies to help manage his condition. The center has missed nine of the last 11 games.
