140 lb titleholder Richardson Hitchins caught up with Fight Hype to give his take on Shakur Stevenson’s clear win over Teofimo Lopez, still wanting to fight Lopez and Devin Haney himself, and more while he looks forward to soon moving up to the welterweight division. Check out some of what he had to say below.
Hitchins on his reaction to Teofimo vs Shakur
“Going into the fight I thought it was going to be a little more competitive than that. I would think that Teo studied Shakur a little bit better than that but I told Teo it’s different in front of Shakur. And Teo tried to tell me that I said it’s different because I’m used to sparring Shakur but I told him already that it was going to be different and I told him he was going to lose the fight, and that’s what happened.”
On where he thinks Teofimo goes from here
“Wherever you go, Teo, don’t go nowhere near me. Wherever the f-ck you go, Teofimo Lopez, don’t come nowhere near me, I’m telling you that…I want [that fight] before, if he’s a big name [I’d fight him still] but the fans want to say ‘oh, you cherry picking, he want to fight Teo now.’ I been calling Teo out for the longest, I been saying that Teo not from Brooklyn, we can unify, this and that.”
On Devin Haney calling out Shakur
“Shakur going to beat him. Devin don’t really want that.”
On wanting to fight Haney himself
“I keep calling that man name, man. They say I’m clout chasing. At first when I was calling his name they was saying ‘go get a belt.’ I get a belt, I’m calling his name, I’m ‘clout chasing, I’m on his d-ck’ this and that. Devin is a p-ssy, if Devin want to fight they can send me a contract. I’m ready to come up to 147 after this fight, I’m tired of 140 anyway. If I can’t get a big fight at ‘40 I’m going to go to 147 and try to get a big fight up there.”
