During this video interview with Erickson Lubin as he prepares to take on Vergil Ortiz, he talks about his preparation for this fight and being ready for the moment, knowing that he has experience against some of the best fighters in the division. In this outing Lubin looks to set himself back up for a number of big fights by proving his worth, as he aims to take out Ortiz and take his spot.
“It’s a big fight on my hands,” Lubin said. “Vergil Ortiz, they consider him the #1 guy in the Ring Magazine at 154 lbs and I’m just looking to claim that spot, that throne, and put myself in the very comfortable spot where I can fight any one of these champions, a rematch with Fundora.
“We’re fighting for the WBC interim belt so that definitely lines me up for a rematch with Fundora, maybe a rematch with Charlo, Xander Zayas, Bakhram Murtazaliev — we can still get that going. But this a legacy-type fight for me…this fight here sets everything up for me. I’m in my prime now and I’m excited. I’m excited to show the world that I’m the #1 154 pounder in boxing.
“I’ve seen it all. I’ve fought guys like Ramos, I fought guys like Fundora, Charlo, some of the top champions in 154 lbs, top champions in boxing. So Vergil Ortiz, he’s a dynamic fighter and I’m excited for the type of matchup that this is going to be. I’m training hard, training camp is pretty much done. We’re about to wrap up training camp it’s almost fight week.”
Lubin and Ortiz will collide this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas and you can join us at BLH for full live coverage of this weekend’s biggest fight.
