«I try often, today it paid off»
Mamadou Sangaré reflects on his beautiful goal against Strasbourg
In a tense match against RC Strasbourg Alsace, it was Mamadou Sangaré who saved RC Lens from defeat (1-1) in Ligue 1.
With a clean strike from the edge of the box, the Malian midfielder brought his side level. He doesn’t see it as a stroke of luck:
I often try shots like that. Sometimes they don’t go in, but today I was focused and it hit the target. The most important thing is that it allowed us to get back in the game.
Up against a Strasbourg side that was fierce in the duels, Lens had to dig deep. Sangaré acknowledges it was tough:
We knew it would be a physical match. They put in a lot of intensity. We managed to respond and take a point.
Already looking ahead, he’s focused on the next match against Lyon. A mature message, reflecting the growing influence of a player who is becoming increasingly important in the Lens midfield.
