Memphis basketball and the Texas Longhorns have agreed to a home-and-home series beginning in the 2026-27 season, the Tigers announced Feb. 27.
The first game will be played at The Moody Center in Austin Dec. 16, 2026. The return game will be played at FedExForum during the 2027-28 season, although a specific date has not yet been set.

Adding the SEC’s Longhorns (17-11 this season under coach Sean Miller) makes an already stout 2026-27 non-conference schedule even more intriguing for Penny Hardaway’s Tigers. Memphis also has home games against Louisville (Nov. 15) and Utah State, as well as road matchups against Baylor and Vanderbilt already in place.
There have been six meetings all-time between Memphis and Texas, one of them (the most recent, March 30, 2008) coming in the NCAA Tournament, which the Tigers won. The Longhorns are 4-1 in the other five contests. Memphis’ only regular-season win over Texas came on Dec. 13, 1973 in Austin.
Texas’ last visit to Memphis came Jan. 2, 2006.
The Tigers (12-16, 7-8 American Conference) have lost five games in a row. Next up for them is a road game against East Carolina on March 1 (1 p.m., ESPN+).
