FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — A month after revealing a bronze statue of former quarterback Tom Brady outside Gillette Stadium, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft expressed his desire to eventually see a Bill Belichick statue accompany it.
«Once that remarkable 20-year period concluded, it was always my plan to create a statue for both Tommy and Bill when their respective careers as player and coach were finished,» Kraft shared with WBZ-TV during an interview. «When Bill’s coaching journey comes to an end, we are eager to sit down with him and have a statue created to stand right beside Tommy.»
interview with The Boston Globe prior to his coaching start at the University of North Carolina, Belichick mentioned that it was simpler there to foster a unified vision and stated, «There’s no owner, there’s no owner’s son.»
Kraft’s comments regarding a future statue for Belichick arise four days before his team kicks off the 2025 season at home against the Las Vegas Raiders, marking the inaugural game under new coach Mike Vrabel.
Vrabel was a player for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008 and was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams.
