Phuti Mohafe discusses the prospects of Habang Matuludi with Polokwane City FC!
As the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Morocco, talks surrounding the future of young South African right-back Thabang Matuludi have surged, with his coach at Polokwane City indicating mental preparedness for the potential exit of the 26-year-old.

Matuludi, who has been adeptly transitioned by coach Phuti Mohafe from a right-winger to a full-back, has emerged as one of the key players for the squad this season. His impressive displays recently secured him a selection to the Bafana Bafana national team camp under Hugo Broos’s management.
«I consistently tell Matuludi: Someday you will appreciate me for placing you in this role,» Mohafe reminisces, considering the player’s professional evolution.
With the player engaged in the continental competition, the coach seems pragmatic about the future of his budding star: «He is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations, and I seriously doubt he will be back. That’s understandable, but I just hope that, even if he attracts attention, he might give us one more season. Then I could confidently say I have contributed to the growth of this young man.»
This remark arises as Matuludi aims to mirror the journey of his former teammate Evidence Makgopa, who transitioned from Polokwane City to the prestigious Orlando Pirates in the last transfer window.

The full-back, who has participated in 10 games and netted one goal this season, must capitalize on his chance at the continental level, as his performances there might significantly influence the next phase of his football journey.
