Playoff Capsule: Texas Tech prospects for Packers fans to watch

The second round of 2025-2026 College Football Playoffs is upon us, and it’s time to go through each team and highlight prospects who could be potential targets for the Green Bay Packers in the 2026 NFL Draft.

During the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers selected three players who competed in the 2024-2025 College Football Playoffs. Brian Gutekunst selected two Texas Longhorns and one Georgia Bulldog.

Could Gutekunst target any Texas Tech Raiders in April? The Buckeyes are the No. 4 seed and will square off against Oregon on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Lee Hunter, DT

A transfer from UCF, Hunter has natural girth to clog up running lanes. The Texas Tech defensive tackle isn’t just a traffic cone; he’s an active presence on the interior. He has strong hands to work off blockers and get them on the ball carrier. Hunter enters the playoffs with 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, 26 pressures and 18 run stops. The Red Raiders have the No. 1 run defense and Hunter plays a vital role in their success.

Brice Pollock, CB

The Mississippi State transfer has recorded five interceptions and six pass deflections. He’s been the definition of lockdown. He’s a physical cornerback with natural ball skills and great reactionary quickness. Pollock is a fluid athlete with the ability to spring in any direction on a dime. If he declares for the 2026 NFL Draft, Pollock could be a potential Day 2 or early Day 3 target for the Packers as they look for cornerback help.

A.J. Holmes, DT

Holmes has been rock solid all season for the Red Raiders. He’s not as big as Hunter, who is 330 pounds, but he plays an integral part in Texas Tech’s success in slowing down rushing attacks. He’s stout at the point of attack and does a good job of controlling his gap. The transfer from Houston enters the playoffs with nine tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 35 pressures and 20 run stops.

Jacob Rodriguez, LB

Rodriguez started his collegiate career on the East Coast at Virginia, where he played on the offensive side of the ball before transferring to Texas Tech and switching to linebacker. He’s an instinctive linebacker who always seems to be around the pigskin and making impactful plays. He enters the playoffs with 11 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, six pass deflections, seven forced fumbles and 64 run stops.

Terrance Carter Jr, TE

Carter isn’t going to take any prisoners as a run blocker. He’s not going to be getting drafted for his run-blocking prowess. However, he’s an impressive on-the-move blocker and works hard to stay engaged. He’s an impressive athlete in space and has racked up 344 yards after the catch this season.

Sheridan Wilson, C

Wilson has started 26 games at center over the past two seasons for the Red Raiders and has given up zero sacks and 15 pressures. If Wilson opts to declare for the NFL Draft, he could be a potential Day 3 target for the Packers.
