While the New York Yankees were able to re-sign their star outfielders in Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham, they haven’t made any huge out-of-house moves. If they want to compete like they always do, they need to make at least one.

Fansided’s Mark Powell and Wynston Wilcox propose that the Yanks make a deal with the Minnesota Twins, and land their two-time All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton. Buxton provides another huge bat to support Aaron Judge, and an amazing glove for center field.

Aaron Judge is lethal. Aaron Judge is consistent. Aaron Judge is everything you need in star player. But the one thing he can’t do it do everything by himself. That’s why the Yankees need to add some more offense in the form of Buxton. He’d be a great addition in the outfield along with Judge. After losing the Soto sweepstakes, it only makes sense to add an outfielder coming off a career season to keep them relevant in the postseason,” Powell and Wilcox wrote.

This past season, Buxton slashed .264/.327/.551/.878 with 21 doubles, 35 home runs, and 83 RBI in 126 games played. He would be an overall upgrade from Grisham, as he hits more home runs, and has a Wilson Overall Defensive Player of the Year to his name.

Buxton’s also only set to make around $45 million over the final three years of his contract. The Yankees have mentioned they want to lower costs, so getting him would definitely kill two birds with one stone.

If the Yankees are smart, they’ll start negotiations right away, and try to get Buxton on their team by Spring Training. Otherwise, another contender will see the good deal Buxton is, and swoop in and grab him.
