Serie A | Torino 1-0 Lecce: Ché Adams revives the Granata

Torino made a big step forward in the race for survival, securing a massive 1-0 win over Lecce thanks to Ché Adam’s first Serie A goal in two months.

Both sides came to this match with several injured players, and the Granata had even lost their last four league games.

Torino had a slow start and had to thank goalkeeper Alberto Paleari for saves on Ylber Ramadani and Lassana Coulibaly, who had tried to score from outside the box.

The home side took the lead with their first shot on target, made by Scotland international Adams, who slotted home with the inside of his foot at the far post from a perfect Nikola Vlasic cross from the right.

Adams had not scored in Serie A since the reverse fixture in Lecce on November 30.

The Granata had three consecutive chances to double their lead, but first Zapata didn’t find the target with a shot from inside the box and then Wladimiro Falcone denied the Colombian and Cesare Casadei’s attempts from distance.

There was also the time for another Paleari save on Omri Gandelman before the break, while Riccardo Sottil’s free kick went over the crossbar.

During the second 45 minutes, Falcone kept his Lecce side in the game with two stunning interventions.

The first came from a great reflex save on Zapata’s close-range finish from the centre of the box, the second from a corner situation before Danilo Veiga’s goal-line clearance.

Ché Adams wasted the chance to score his brace by sending a shot wide from a tight angle. Torino failed to put the game to bed, so Lecce tried to respond, and Banda was unlucky when he hit the post after a counterattacking move, curling an unstoppable shot past Paleari.

With this victory, Torino move to 26 points, nine above the drop zone, while Lecce remain 17th, just one point above Fiorentina.
