Sky: Brand new Premier League club add £37m Man Utd star ‘high up’ their January transfer shortlist

In the event he is allowed to depart on loan in January, Everton will be among Joshua Zirkzee’s suitors.

That’s according to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett, who’s revealed that Manchester United’s No.11 and Ivan Toney are ‘high up’ on the Toffees’ shortlist as they ‘prioritise’ a striker addition for David Moyes.

Seeking a ‘different profile’ to current frontmen Beto and Thierno Barry, Everton are mulling over how they could add Zirkzee to their ranks amid United’s reluctance to sell.

In recent weeks, speculation surrounding United’s winter window has been flooded with reports detailing Zirkzee’s desire to leave.

The Dutchman has been limited to an incredibly reduced role under Ruben Amorim this season, making only four appearances in the opening 12 Premier League matches.

He has been an unused substitute for seven whole games, and his brief appearances on the pitch haven’t exceeded the 10-minute mark since mid-September.

What’s United’s stance on Zirkzee?

United’s stance – that they’re unwilling to sanction a mid-season exit – stems from the fact Amorim’s squad is poised to be depleted in January when Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui jet off to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Amad and Mbeumo’s absences, in particular, could pave the way for Zirkzee to be granted more action over the festive period and into the New Year. However, it’ll only satisfy his needs if it continues long-term, which, provided there are no major injury concerns across the first-team, is unlikely to be the case.

Along with Everton, West Ham United and AS Roma are also willing to offer Zirkzee an escape route away from his Old Trafford woes.
