Steve Mounié reacts after defeat against Galatasaray
On Matchday 24 of the Süper Lig, Alanyaspor fell 3-1 to Galatasaray SK. Despite the setback for Alanyaspor, Beninese forward Steve Mounié was keen to highlight the positives from the match.
Galatasaray broke the deadlock just before halftime through Sacha Boey (45+2′). Alanyaspor responded early in the second half with an equalizer from Steve Mounié (49′), once again proving his attacking importance. But Galatasaray reclaimed the lead with goals from Lucas Torreira (58′) and Victor Osimhen (83′), sealing a 3-1 victory.
At the end of the match, Steve Mounié, who netted his second Süper Lig goal of the season, wanted to keep things positive:
We fought hard. It was a tough match, but we showed character. Galatasaray is a top team, and playing here is never easy… We need to be more clinical in both boxes. Offensively and defensively, there are things we must improve.
Despite the defeat, the Beninese striker hopes to build on this performance to help his team as the league campaign continues. For the record, the Parakou native now has 9 goals in all competitions for Alanyaspor.
