The Eagles are in Los Angeles for a key matchup against the Chargers on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, and the Birds are within striking distance despite an ugly first half of offensive football. With the second half set to begin, we’re looking at takeaways and observations from the first half as Philadelphia trails 10-6 after Jake Elliott missed a 51-yard field goal attempt as time expired.

Nick Sirianni said he had more input into the offense this week, but aside from a few empty sets, it’s the same inefficient offensive system. Philadelphia had 11 first downs, 2-7 on third downs, 168 yards, and 0-1 in the red zone.
Eagles defense
Philadelphia allowed five first downs, 2-6 on third downs, 127 yards, and 1-1 in the red zone after the Chargers’ initial outburst.

Cooper DeJean vs. Ladd McConkey
Earlier this week, Chargers OC Greg Roman had this to say about McConkey and DeJean’s matchup.
OC Greg Roman yesterday on Cooper DeJean matching up with Ladd: «I was born at night, but not last night. Vic’s going to have different ways to leverage coverage to where it’s not one-on-one at all times … But as far as the matchup, I like Ladd against anybody.»
McConkey has been held without a catch on two targets.
More Chargers’ offensive tackle injuries
Trey Pipkins went down for the Chargers in the second quarter. That’s already on top of other notable injuries, and He’s their third offensive tackle. The Chargers are already down their two best offensive tackles in Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt. Bobby Hart is in for Pipkins.
