Dan Lanning is a defensive-minded coach, so it is no surprise that the Oregon Ducks have gotten their hands on some of the more intriguing cornerback prospects in recent years. They sent Christian Gonzalez to the NFL back in 2023 and he quickly turned himself into one of the best defensive backs in the league with the New England Patriots.
Currently, they have true freshman Brandon Finney Jr., who is establishing himself as a top cornerback in the nation. Now, they are attempting to snag another elite player at the position from the transfer portal.

Utah Utes cornerback Smith Snowden entered the transfer portal a few days ago and the Ducks emerged as one of the teams on his short list of potential landing spots. Reports surfaced earlier today that he has meetings planned with five different schools this week, and one of them will take place with Oregon later in the week.

Adding Snowden would give the Ducks one of the best secondaries in the league, with two blue-chip cornerbacks and tons of potential at the safety position. It would also make up for the light recruiting class the school pursued, falling in line with the philosophy of prioritizing quality over quantity.
It will be tough to bring in Snowden with other powerhouses in play for him, but the Ducks have beat out juggernauts before, so there’s no reason they can’t do it again.
