In the Valencia Marathon 2025, Alex Yee delivered an impressive performance with a time of 2:06:38, securing the second spot in the all-time British men’s rankings.
The Olympic champion triathlete, who claimed gold at Paris 2024, is concentrating on running as he prepares for LA 2028 between the Games.

Yee achieved a personal best by four minutes and 30 seconds following his debut at the London Marathon earlier this year (2:11:08).
He is now positioned second, trailing only Sir Mo Farah (2:05:11), after surpassing the previous No 2 Emile Cairess (2:06:46), who managed to pace both Yee and training companion Phil Sesemann, who set a personal best of 2:07:11, for most of the race before withdrawing. «I’m thrilled to have one more attempt at the marathon distance,» Yee stated beforehand, expressing his plan to return to triathlon regardless of the outcome in Spain.
However, the 27-year-old could reconsider his plans after finishing seventh overall, behind race champion John Korir (2:02:24), with the Kenyan bouncing back from a DNF at the Chicago Marathon to add the victory in Valencia to his 2025 Boston Marathon win.

Amanal Petros from Germany, the silver medalist at the World Championships 2025, surged to second place on the podium once more (2:04:03), while Norway’s Awet Kibrab finished third (2:04:24) setting national records.

In the women’s race, Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya dominated, recording the fastest time of the year at 2:14:00, outpacing Peres Jepchirchir (2:14:43), with Chloe Herbiet (2:20:38) taking third as the next best.
Jonny Mellor (2:08:45) was the third Briton to finish in the men’s event, while Natasha Wilson (2:24:22) achieved a personal best to become the top Briton in the women’s race, followed by Lily Partridge (2:27:55) and Verity Hopkins (2:31:22 PB).
