Watch Texas A&M freshman outfielder's MLB-level throw

Texas A&M’s 2026 baseball season is off to a semi-rocky start after it was announced that sophomore LHP Caden McCoy, who was in line to contend for one of the three weekend starting spots, has been lost for the season after suffering an elbow injury, which will require Tommy John Surgery.

While McCoy will be back stronger than ever next season, second-year head coach Michael Earley is likely playing with little security regarding his future at the helm, likely needing to lead the 2026 roster to the postseason after missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time in over 20 years last season. However, despite losing McCoy for the year, Earley will be coaching too much talent not to contend for a postseason spot.

Texas A&M will open the 2026 season against Tennessee State on Friday, February 14, and during Wednesday’s practice, one of the program’s top freshmen, outfielder Jorian Wilson, made what should make the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the week, showing off his incredible arm after throwing a laser from center field to home plate.

Wilson, who is built like a Power Four edge rusher at 6’4″ and 240 pounds, is already making waves as a potential star in the making, who, among a veteran lineup filled with future MLB first-rounders, could end up seeing the field early in the year.

During his senior season at Hallettsville High School, Wilson batted .440 with 10 home runs, while also excelling on the mound.
