Even with early struggles Tuesday night, the North Carolina Tar Heels powered their way to another dominant win, breaking away from ETSU in a 77-58 blowout.
UNC (10-1) couldn’t break the Buccaneers’ (8-4) slow tempo early, watching its opponent use the whole shot clock before launching the basketball. North Carolina wasn’t able to get out and run in transition.

The Tar Heels bursted out of halftime, starting things on a 7-point swing. Henri Veesaar scored a career-high 26 points, quickly ridding any doubts about UNC’s ability to beat lesser opponents.
North Carolina now quickly turns its attention to Ohio State, with a 3 p.m. tip-off Saturday afternoon awaiting both programs. The Tar Heels and Buckeyes (8-2) will battle in a CBS Sports Classic matchup from Atlanta, which is the hometown of UNC star freshman Caleb Wilson.
Outside of losing to Michigan State on Thanksgiving Day, North Carolina is dispatching non-conference opponents with ease. This includes Power Four opponents, like blue bloods Kansas (87-74) and Kentucky (67-64).
The Tar Heels last played Ohio State in 2022, winning an 89-84 decision in overtime from New York City. That season, UNC and the Buckeyes both missed the NCAA Tournament.

North Carolina is showcasing early signs of a National Championship contender, while Ohio State looks much better in Year Two of the Jake Diebler era.

Make no joke: UNC will have issues with Ohio State on Saturday. North Carolina plays up to its competition, though, so I expect a close game throughout.
Score prediction: UNC 74, Ohio State 68
