Who is kicking for the New Orleans Saints this week? As expected, the Saints elevated Charlie Smyth from their practice squad for Week 14’s road game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking his second consecutive start as the team’s place kicker. The Saints also brought up wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr., who has been on a bit of a roller coaster after being waived and re-signed just a few days ago.
So the Saints will have a receiving corps made up of Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, Mason Tipton, returns specialist Dante Pettis, and Austin this Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. Wide receivers Trey Palmer and Ja’Lynn Polk remain on the injured reserve list, though Palmer is eligible to return once he’s recovered from a hamstring injury. They’ll also have Smyth out there kicking field goals and, hopefully, a lot of extra points.

Smyth won a competition at practice last week with Cade York, who had signed with the Saints after a free agent tryout, and he did well in their game with the Miami Dolphins. The Ireland native nailed his lone point-after-attempt as well as a 56-yard field goal; a tall order for someone in their first career start. He also executed an onside kick perfectly to give the Saints a chance late in regulation. Now he hopes to build on that performance in his second career game.
