Wolves clear G Edwards for contact, not games

NEW YORK — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has received clearance for contact practices on the court, though the three-time All-Star is not fully prepared for competitive play a week after sustaining a strain in his right hamstring.

The Timberwolves reported that Edwards will be sidelined for their matchup against Brooklyn on Monday as he continues to advance in his recovery plan. Minnesota is set to face New York on Wednesday and will host Utah on Friday, followed by consecutive away games against Sacramento on Sunday and Utah the following Monday.

Edwards suffered the injury roughly three minutes into the team’s home opener on October 26 against Indiana. The sixth-year veteran will be absent for his fourth consecutive game, marking the largest number of missed games in four years. He participated in 72 of 82 games during the 2021-22 season.
