Wolves' Edwards out again with foot injury

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves standout Anthony Edwards was absent for the second consecutive game on Sunday due to discomfort in his right foot. Edwards is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis regarding his potential return.

Coach Chris Finch remarked prior to the game that the injury «hasn’t subsided enough for him to participate.»

Back-up point guard Mike Conley was also out for Minnesota’s matchup versus Sacramento, marking the 19-year veteran’s second consecutive game missed due to a right Achilles issue. The depleted backcourt led to another starting opportunity for Bones Hyland, who has recently earned his place in the lineup.

Earlier this season, Edwards missed four games because of a strained right hamstring. The three-time All-Star, currently ranked eighth in the NBA with an average of 28.7 points per game, has already experienced his highest number of absences since the 2021-22 season, during which he played 72 games.

With the Timberwolves facing a less demanding part of their schedule, Edwards could benefit from eight days of recovery while only missing these two games. Minnesota will take on Memphis at home on Wednesday.
